Making it Easier for you to Tithe
July 11, 2010
"Honey did you bring the check book? I thought you had it in your... I'll bring my tithe check next time". It's happen to all of us. In a plastic payment world it is easy to forget to bring that tithe check to church. That is why we have added a new feature here at NewRiver on our website; www.NewRiver.tv/Give Most of us carry plastic and some cash, but normally not that tithe. So you can now bring your tithe online. God told us to bring the first fruit to the store house; that's the church. The first fruit is not what is left over but that first 10%. God blesses obedience and wants his people to walk in faith. To give God the first 10% is acknowleding that it ALL belongs to him. When God told the children of Israel to go into the promise land he told them that the cities and the riches of those cities belong to them. Every city but Jericho (Joshua 6). God told them that the riches of Jericho were "holy" (set apart for God). The people were not to touch the possesions of Jericho, but one man did; Achan. And because of that the whole nation of Israel were effected by loosing an easy battle they should have won. When the people found out that Achan had stolen from God he and his entire family were put to death and his possessions burnt. But why did God want Jericho? The truth is there were other cities that had greater wealth. But the fact is Jericho was the first city; the first. God knew it would be a step of faith for the people to give him the first city, trusting that there would be enough in the other cities. They trusted, the obeyed and they were blessed. God continues to bless our church and our people. If you have not walked in obedience in this area, let today be your day. Give God your first. Click on www.NewRiver.tv/give and bring God your first tithe or get caught up. I would end this blog with "God bless you", but if you are obedient to him with the tithe, He already said He would.
