Our Church Is...

 January 25, 2010

I love being the pastor here at New River.  I love what God is doing

in the lives of our people, our families and our community.  I have

said it before and will continue to speak it, "The best is yet to come"!

God continues to take our church forward, and to do that I need the

power of God; I need favor for His game plan, wisdom, and discernment.

What I have realized is greatness is too big for one man, and that is one

of the reasons why I am surrounded with our Leadership Council.  The

Leadership Council is a team made up of five other men from New River

who help me seek God and carry the vision of this church. They are men

of integrity, vision and expertise.  I heard John Maxwell say one time,

"anything that has more than one head is a monster".  I hear what he is

saying and agree.  But Proverbs also says that there is wisdom in a

multitude of council.   I have asked each of these men to be a part of the

Leadership Council and walk with me for a period of time to see if they

should move into the seat of Elders.  I have seen churches that were tied

up and unable to be effective because of power playing committees, red

tape with more hoops to jump through than a Ringling Brothers circus.

I have also seen churches where there were little to no accountability.

My desire is a beautiful balance of men who hunger to see the kingdom

of God move forward, but with checks and balances so that building His

kingdom will be done properly and in order.  In the next coming weeks I

will post a detailed description of the requirements and responsibilities of

the Elders of New River Fellowship.
